Halos, Lord of the Heavens
Mirius, Lady of the Earth
Morbius, Lord of the Underworld
These are the three prime gods, that have existed since the dawn of
time. They created this universe, the other gods, and the creatures within.
They are neither good nor evil, existing during a time where there
was neither good nor evil. If used in stories at all, use them as legends,
never
as actual avatars. They are the supreme beings that rarely take a hand
in the world, and indeed, most unlearned people don't know of their
existence. However, some people of the northern barbarian tribes know
them as their sole gods.
Secondary Powers
These gods are the ones ordinarily worshipped by the people. There is
usually a temple of each in each city, and there is a more or less
organized priesthood as well, though in the Empire of Draconia, the
Orders are small compared in scope with the druids. In the other lands,
Nathos is known to be as strong as Kala, and there may be unlisted
gods known of in other lands.
Mesalae, Lady of the Sea = Naturally a popular goddess among the seafaring
cities of the world, she is known to be a fickle mistress. The seas
echo her moods, tempestuous when she is angry, quiet when she is happy.
Her colours are blue and silver, her symbols are the fish and/or the
shell. Her patron city is Drak Mesalus
Kala, Lady of the Sun = Once a minor power, Kala was elevated to secondary
status when she became the state religion of the Draconian
Empire. She controls the spheres of the Sun, daylight, reason, knowledge,
and wisdom. Her colours are white and gold, and her symbol is a
sunburst. Her patron city is Soliath
Tauranik, Lord of Battle = A god popular only among savages, or among
men whose lives are devoted to relieving others of theirs. He is always
clad in bloodied armour, with a white sword in one hand, and a black
sword in the other, signifying the random nature of war. His symbol is
a
set of two crossed swords, black and white. His colours are black and
white. His patron city is Drak Tauros
Nathos, Lord of Justice = The god commonly referred to as "The Light",
in southern nations, he is a stern god, always depicted holding a set of
scales. Little is known of him in the Empire of Draconia, but word
of him has spread to the Lakelands, and a small temple is being erected
in the
Coastlands, at the city of Drak Kalthorne.
Meira, Lady of Harvests = A goddess worshipped all over the world, in
one form or another, she is the goddess that is born every spring, and
dies every winter. She is the Maiden come spring time, initiating the
birth and renewal of all things. Come summer she is the Mother, taking
care
of her children with a wise hand. Come fall and winter, she turns into
the Crone, when the lands falls asleep. There is a mystery cult of Meira
at
the outskirts of the city of Drak Kalthorne.
Lesser Powers
These powers are powerful enough to be gods, but do not have an organized
priesthood, nor are they powerful to challenge any of the
secondary powers.
Nala, Lady of the Moon = The twin sister of Kala, Nala is the guardian
of the power of Sorcery. Though twins, they never got along very well,
with Kala wishing for her disciples to know through thought and reason,
and Nala not taking disciples for fear that her knowledge would be
misused. Nala is a secretive goddess, though not necessarily an evil
one. She represents the darker side of knowledge. Her colours are black
and silver, and her holy symbol is a plain silver disk, or a silver
cresent.
Tilana, Lady of Beauty = A maiden at the height of her beauty, she represents
the ultimate expression of the human form. She is the mate of
Tauranik, though she loathes him. Her colours are white and silver
Torath, Lord of Deception = Nobody knows much about this power, whether
he is a lord or a lady. Thieves are his only worshippers. His
colours are gray, and if he has a symbol, nobody knows what it is.
Mitaneus, Lord of Travelers = The patron of wanderers everywhere, he
is alternately known as The Guide. There is no organized priesthood,
but here and there one may find an abbey of monks by the road, offering
sanctuary to travelers in need.
The Grandfather, the Dragongod = This used to be considered the most
powerful of the Secondary powers, but with the death of the dragon
race at the end of the Second Age, this deity has ceased to have the
power it once had. This being never speaks to humans, but its existence
has
been verified by inscriptions found in the oldest parts of Dragonspire
Keep, and by research done by the Druids of Kala. It still exists, because
Gods cannot truly die, but is now so powerless that it probably cannot
move, nor speak.
