You walk down a long hallway in the Imperanon, decorated with tapestries depicting angelic beings in combat with dark fiends. Torches line the walls, but they give light eternally, without burning...     A sense of peace pervades this section of the palace

You reach the end of the corridor, to be faced with heavy wooden double doors, carved with images of Sol. The sense of peace and pure goodness seems to be radiating from behind those doors. You silently debate to yourself whether you should enter or not... Then the seams of the doors glow with a holy white light, and they swing inward of their own accord.

"Welcome to the Temple of Kala, the Goddess of the Sun and of Reason" whispers a voice from inside the room. "Be silent, the druids are conducting a ceremony, and it just wouldn't do to disturb them"

You get a good look at your host; he is a willowy young man, draped in a white robe trimmed in green. A golden brooch depicting a sunburst is clasped under his slender throat. You notice that under his auburn hair, he has long, pointed ears, and his thin eyebrows arch over his almond shaped green eyes. It seems that the Druid of Kala is an elf.

"I am called Derwen, The Hand of Kala, by what are you called?" You tell him your name, and he repeats it slowly, as if committing it to memory. He clasps your hand. "Well met. It is my duty to guide the pilgrims who occasionally come to worship at this Temple; so stay awhile, and watch what happens... who knows? perhaps you will walk out of this sanctuary with a whole new outlook on life, and a blessing as well!"

Our Purpose

The Druidic Order is an organization of the Druids of Kala the Sun Maiden, the Lady of Light and Reason. They are based in the duchy of Nova Q'lynnesti, in the Draconian Empire, but druids can be found all over the world.

Kala once instructed her loyal disciples to record all that happened in Her world, and to meditate upon these events in order to gain wisdom. She picked her disciples from among the benevolent nations of the world, a group of states formed to protect all that is right and good. The Druidic Order is not an independant institution, but one that is an extension of these States, that exists to bring all the people together so that they can coexist in prosperity.

The Druids primary task is to create and record the stories and legends that help make the identity of a nation or guild. Anyone in the guild can make a story, but only the druids can proclaim stories official, that represent the whole of the guild(with the permission of the guild elders, of course). Other duties include arbitration for any guild that requires an outside neutral voice, and counselling. This could be as simple as giving a common warrior knowledge as to how to skin a rabbit, or as complex as being the personal advisor to a king. Either way, imparting knowledge is the nourishment of a dedicated druid, no matter how trivial that knowledge may seem.

Anyone may join the druids, though most of them come from the Diablo guilds of the United Legit Guilds of Diablo (anyone not in a guild automatically joins the Temple in Soliath). The only requirements for druidhood are a good command of the english language, proof of that command (i.e. a story or a poem, etc.), personally meeting the Patriarch (over the ICQ or email, see "ranks", below).

The Three Oaths

There are three oaths that every druid must swear to upon his initiation. These oaths exist to limit the powers of the druid, and to teach humility and trust. They are embodiments of the ideals of the Order.

Organization of the Druidic Order

The way the druids will be organized will be as follows; Acolyte, Druid, Archdruid, Patriarch

Acolyte = an acolyte is what all druids begin at, and is what they remain until they are interviewed by the Patriarch and officially accepted into the Order.

Druid = the regular persona of the Order. They make most of the myths and legends, and have no administration duties, therefore they have the most time to devote to their work. There are many different specializations available within the general Druid rank, such as Beastmaster Druid (a monster expert), Arcana Druid (an expert in sorcerous matters), and more. All druids must hand in their reports to their archdruid.

Archdruid = The head of a circle of the Druidic Order within a guild, chosen by the circle, or appointed by the Patriarch (normally the former). These druids administer the circle by enforcing the laws of the Order (to be seen later) by whatever means they deem necessary. They also process the stories made by the druids, and if they are satisfactory, and make sense with respect to the rest of the stories completed thus far, he sends the stories to the Patriarch, who will add them to the master compilation. It will be up to the archdruid to make sure that all members of their respective guild have access to the finished stories. The archdruid acts sort of like the High Priest in a medieval society. He is on a par with the upper nobility, and serves his king as all the kings subjects do. However, he also has a loyalty to the Patriarch, as in the middle ages all arch-bishops had loyalty to the Pope of Rome.

Patriarch = The head of the entire Druidic Order, he coordinates the efforts of the Archdruids, who coordinate the druids. He tries to fit all the various stories and the various guilds into one world, to give physical form to all our trials and tribulations. Alder Caine has this position, and will be using The Hall of the faithful to bring all the guilds and stories together. He is still a member of the Seekers of Truth, but the druids transcend all guilds, so He is entirely neutral with regards to the histories. He would have this neutrality shared by all the druids of the Druidic Order. If we are neutral, we will eventually spread to all the guilds, and weave our small threads into a vast tapestry

Also to avoid general confusion, conflict and otherwise non helpful storylines, the Druids must follow an additional set of rules. These are known as the Rules of Writing.

The Rules of Writing

  • The Destruction Rule: If a person, place or thing is destroyed, it must stay destroyed, or in the case of living things...dead. A writer may write about the item if it is before, or after the destruction but cannot carry on a story as if it was still there. However, special permission to bring the subject back (be it animal, person, place, or thing) or use it in a story can be granted by the writer that originally had it destroyed.
  • The Profanity Rule : A few uses of a profane or offensive material will be overlooked. The world welive in is not perfect and neither should we expect the world of Temmerandil to be. However, the use of profane or offensive material should have some purpose, (like in a war situation, or emotional situation) instead of merely put there without reason. As for writing about sexual activities, please refrain from this unless the acts are not fully described or are lurid.
  • The Relevance Rule : Basically the rule is, if you are writing about medieval/Diablo related stories, please refrain from adding any elements from outside of that time era/subject matter. No Sci/Fi (guns, lasers, robots/cyborgs) should be mixed with Fantasy (swords, knights, magic). If such stories were to be mixed, then they hold no relevance to the world of Temmerandil for Diablo/Medieval type of story or the Galaxy as it is known by Stracraft players and if stories violate this, the stories are not counted as being official submissions for the Order's Library
